General Motors was the second of the Big Three to come into existence. The company was founded in 1908, 17 years before Chrysler but only 5 years after Ford. By 1925, all three would be headquartered in the same place (Detroit, MI) and engaged in a heated battle for dominance of the American transportation industry.

Today, General Motors is the only one of the Big Three to still be headquartered in Detroit, MI. General Motors is also the largest automobile manufacturer in the United States and the fourth-largest in the entire world, beating out both Ford and Chrysler.
