SK Hand Tools was founded in Chicago, Illinois, back in 1900. That makes it more than 120 years old. At first, SK Hand Tools was named The Sherman-Klove Company and only produced screw machine products. Over the next 30 years, however, contract after contract came in from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) looking to expand their tool lines. That gave SK the funding it needed to expand exponentially. As the years went by, SK changed its name and ownership four times, eventually coming to rest in the control of Ideal Industries.

Today, SK Hand Tools manufactures nearly 4,000 individual tools, types of equipment, and hardware for use primarily in the automotive industry. These tools enable truckers, technicians, engineers, and repair mechanics to work on their sedans, heavy-duty trucks, or industrial equipment fast and easy. The versatility of the SK Hand Tools products is key to what the brand is today. Celebrity talk show host Jay Leno even once described the brand as "an iconic American brand for decades."
